Job Description


The Purchasing Manager is responsible for executing purchasing plans and ensuring the timely availability of materials required to support production schedules. This role works closely with Planning, Operations, Product Development, Warehouse, and Customer Service to maintain material flow, manage supplier performance, and support inventory accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Issue and manage purchase orders for yarn, packaging, and other raw materials.
  • Monitor material requirements based on production schedules and forecasts.
  • Track supplier commitments and delivery schedules to ensure material availability.
  • Expedite late materials and proactively communicate potential shortages or risks.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information within the ERP system.
  • Support inventory planning efforts by maintaining appropriate material levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors regarding delivery schedules, shortages, and order status.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Support supplier qualification and sourcing initiatives in partnership with the VP of Planning.
  • Work closely with Planning to ensure materials are available to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Warehouse teams regarding material shortages, inventory concerns, and production priorities.
  • Support Product Development and Customer Service with material availability information when needed.
  • Participate in daily and weekly operational meetings.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within the ERP system.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and ensure timely receipt of materials.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy initiatives, cycle counts, and material investigations.
  • Support efforts to reduce excess inventory while maintaining service levels.

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, materials management, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience purchasing raw materials, packaging, textiles, or related products preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
