Direct supervision responsibilities of production team members; recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, direct, and manage new and current production team members.
Oversee the daily workflow, assignments of the production shift, and production operations on assigned shifts.
Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
Organize and oversee the schedule of production/work of assigned staff and ensure manpower requirements to maintain production schedule are met.
Provide leadership to the Charlotte Production Operations team members to ensure all department/company goals and objectives are met.
Provide clear vision, roles and responsibilities for team members and regularly evaluate team member performance; communicate and lead corrective actions/changes necessary.
Ensure efficient and safe production and enforcing safety policies/procedures.
Closely monitor and analyze production schedules.
Conduct real time transactions in Microsoft Dynamics to ensure MRP can function.
Address production problems immediately and allocate the necessary resources to minimize impact on the production schedule.
Provide shift summary reports clearly stating what each person accomplished.
Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed quality standards, maximize production and reduce costs, in an increasingly safe environment.
Establish, monitor and communicate production KPIs.
Ensure products meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications.
Implement and maintain quality control procedures and processes.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address any issues/solutions.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies.
Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions, and lead in continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices.
Foster a culture of innovation and improvement throughout the plant.
Maintain open and effective communication in both verbal and written form with team members, management, and other departments to ensure information is communicated properly.
Key Qualifications:
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills, organizational skills and detail-oriented.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, MRP skills, and ERP systems knowledge required; MS Dynamics strongly preferred.
Efficient and effective time management and people management/leadership skills.
Ability to read and understand manuals, analyze and interpret technical diagrams and plant procedures.
Ability to maintain proper records and analyze data.
Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
Accreditation from a technical school or applicable skilled trades program strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science from a four-year college; minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in a chemical manufacturing facility, batch manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years in a supervisory or management role strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of production management, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with ISO 9000.
Proficiency in mathematical concepts (algebra, statistics, geometry) as it applies to practical situations.
