Plant Manager (Rebar)

Job Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of a fabrication facility. This role oversees all plant activities including rebar fabrication, cage assembly, yard operations, shipping, staffing, quality control, and equipment readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct all daily fabrication activities (cutting, bending, shearing, welding, cage assembly).
  • Lead supervisors, foremen, and hourly workforce; recruit, hire, and train plant personnel; manage attendance, discipline, and employee development.
  • Ensure production schedules meet customer delivery dates and project requirements.
  • Monitor throughput, downtime, and labor productivity; coordinate workflow between shop, yard, and shipping functions.
  • Maintain organized yard layout and material flow.
  • Implement standardized operating procedures from corporate leadership.
  • Lead a safety-first culture, conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, and safety reviews; enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Maintain compliance documentation.
  • Ensure fabricated product meets drawings, bar lists, and specifications.
  • Verify cage assembly accuracy and dimensional tolerances.
  • Reduce rework, scrap, and fabrication errors.
  • Address customer concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Oversee inbound steel receiving and verification; maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Coordinate loading, scheduling, and dispatch of deliveries; ensure shipments are complete, accurate, and on time.
  • Control labor costs, overtime, and operating expenses; track production metrics and profitability drivers.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

Key Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of leadership in manufacturing, steel fabrication, or construction materials.
  • Experience managing production teams and demonstrated safety leadership in an industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, logistics, and inventory control.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and bar lists.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency (ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office).
  • Knowledge of rebar detailing and cage assembly practices preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus in many Southeast labor markets preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience preferred.
