Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Job Description

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, or any one of like status. The E&I Tech is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing plant electrical and instrumentation systems that support operation of a chemical manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on electrical systems and instrumentation as directed to ensure equipment is kept in full working order. Examples include control panels, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and process instrumentation (temperature, pressure, level, flow devices).
  • Calibrate and configure sensors, controllers, and automated process equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues, utilizing engineering drawings, manuals, and diagnostics.
  • Use electrical and instrumentation diagnostic equipment as well as handheld tools as related to electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Run/operate devices to test their performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to optimize process safety, control, and efficiency.
  • Procure parts and supplies.
  • Track and complete work using plant CMMS software.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of maintenance shop and plant.
  • Perform work according to safe work practices.
  • Coordinate outside vendors or resources as required for specialized service, repairs, or installations.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years’ minimum experience.
  • Hight School diploma or GED. Associates degree or trade certification in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • NFPA 70E certification a plus.
  • Some knowledge of building, electrical codes and OSHA regulations.
